Semillas Fitó is the host at a drinks reception with customers, collaborators, friends, colleagues and companies in the sector
The International Seed Federation (ISF) held the 2022 World Seed Congress in the city of Barcelona on 16-18 May. This event was held in person once again after two years of postponement due to the pandemic. Under the slogan "Sowing a vibrant future", the event aimed to highlight the potential of seeds, their contribution to society and the evolution of the sector. Eduard Fitó, expressed the value of seeds in this way, "despite the fact that seeds represent a small part of the final cost, they are of paramount importance due to the value they provide throughout the entire chain."
Among the activities offered during the week, Semillas Fitó carried out one that was very special, inviting more than 180 people including customers, collaborators, friends, colleagues and companies in the sector, to share a night in one of the most emblematic buildings in Barcelona, the Llotja de Mar, a strategic enclave for many years of trade and agriculture in the city. The celebration of the Congress in Barcelona gave us the opportunity to welcome our guests and be close to them to showcase the evolution of Semillas Fitó in the last 140 years and present the future outlook of the company.
On the last day of the Congress, the National Association of Plant Breeders (ANOVE) organized a thematic day at Mercabarna based around new trends in the sector and gastronomy. Semillas Fitó, represented by Eduard Fitó, participated in a very interesting debate that was held under the title: “The role of plant breeding along the modern food supply chain: contributions, challenges, threats and expectations”, which proposed the need for greater collaboration between companies in the sector, from seed producers to retailers, to enhance the visibility of the production and agri-food sector, putting the final consumer at the centre of future strategies.
